The correct ring size is crucial for optimal comfort and a secure fit in everyday life. This applies to both engagement rings and wedding rings, which will accompany you for a lifetime. A correct ring size ensures that the ring is neither too tight nor too loose. If it is too loose, it can easily get lost; if it is too tight, wearing it quickly becomes uncomfortable. Here we show you the different ways to determine your ring size.
The comfort of the ring varies depending on its shape and width. When measuring, bear in mind that ring sizes on the right hand may differ from those on the left. However, you should decide in advance which hand you would like to wear your wedding rings on.
At our 123GOLD stores, experienced experts will help you determine the exact right ring size. During a personal consultation, we take into account not only the ring size itself, but also the ring shape, width and how it feels on your finger. This ensures that your rings will fit perfectly and remain comfortable to wear every day.

We recommend visiting one of our more than 70 123GOLD stores to have your ring size professionally measured by our experts. This ensures that your ring will fit perfectly and be comfortable to wear. Alternatively, you can determine your ring size at home by measuring the circumference of your finger or the inside diameter of a ring that fits. You can then find the right size using our ring size table.
You can easily measure your ring size at home – for example, using a strip of paper or a piece of string that you wrap around your finger. It’s important not to pull it too tight and to then read the circumference in millimetres.
Wider rings have less room at the knuckle. However, to be able to slide the ring easily all the way down to the base of the finger, it should therefore be slightly larger.
It is best to measure your ring size in the evening, as fingers are usually thicker then than in the morning. If you are considering a particularly wide ring, you may need to choose a larger size. Incidentally, ring sizes can also vary between summer and winter.
Both methods are reliable. If you already have a ring that fits, measuring the inside diameter is often particularly accurate. If you don’t have a ring, we recommend measuring the circumference of your finger.
If you're unsure between two sizes, it's best to choose the larger ring size so that the ring fits comfortably over your knuckle – especially if you have wider fingers or in warm weather.
Yes, fingers can swell slightly depending on the temperature, time of day or physical activity. It’s best to measure your ring size in the evening at a normal room temperature.
